Signing in decides which screens you can open. It does not decide what you are allowed to do — that comes from your clearance, and it is checked every single time.

A person

key held in this browser

Your access is worked out from your clearance when you sign in, so if yours is taken away it closes these screens with it. There is nowhere else anybody has to remember to switch you off.

The key is encrypted with your passphrase and kept in this browser only. Neither ever reaches the server — it sees a signature, and reads your role from the chain.

Demo key for the issuing authority

Derived from Hardhat’s published development mnemonic, so it is already public and worthless off this chain. Paste it above with any passphrase of 8 characters or more.

A gate post

provisioned as a device

A gate post is staffed by whoever is on shift, so the terminal itself is given a sign-in — the way a card reader is set up today — rather than every guard needing their own to unlock a shared screen.
